Grid conditioners.
Security of supply in an ever increasing energy demand society is vital. The increasing penetration of distributed generation, connected via grid inverters, puts pressure on the power quality of electrical networks.
Monitoring the power quality of an electrical network or system aims to identify risk areas and even enable preventative maintenance to ensure optimal availability and reliability of power supply.
Classical instrument transformers are often not prepared for measuring frequency components higher than that of the fundamental power frequency, resulting in incomplete power quality information or even worse, operating decisions being made based on inaccurate information.
The Flex Power Grid Lab offers the facility to evaluate instrument transformers and its associated equipment on a full frequency range as dictated by the prevailing standards (40th harmonic voltage) up to medium-voltage levels.
