MV Switchgear.
Medium-voltage networks have an important role in the distribution of electrical power, as most customers are directly linked to this network. Any problem in this network and customers may experience huge problems due to outage.
It is vital to isolate short-circuits in a medium-voltage network as soon as possible. This calls for switchgear of the highest quality! Depending on the type of switchgear it should be capable of making and breaking short-circuit currents. To prove that switchgear components are capable of de-energizing network parts under normal and severe conditions it is necessary to test these components according international standards such as IEC or ANSI.
At KEMA we have extensive experience and a solid reputation in testing medium-voltage switchgear under realistic conditions. For these tests we use the most efficient test programs in such a way that costs are reduced to a minimum. Of course all tests are performed without synthetic installations, which makes all tests realistic and efficient.
Medium voltage circuit breakers are designed to energize or de-energize circuits under normal conditions and special conditions.
Load Break Switches are capable of making, carrying and breaking currents under normal circuit conditions, which may include specified operating overload conditions.
Metal clad consists of components such as load break switch, circuit breaker and earthing switch.
Ring Main Units normally consist of switches on both sides of the T-off, one to open the ring and another at the connection to the distribution transformer.
