On-stream wall thickness monitoring
Save time-consuming and expensive scaffolding and apply KEMA’s on-stream wall thickness monitoring
High-energy piping where safety is paramount are under supervision of notified bodies. All risks therefore have to managed, which means that creep, fatigue, corrosion and erosion have to be taken into account. Steam pipes for example, are particularly liable to affected by creep. Pipe work transporting hydrocarbons at petrochemical plants suffer more from corrosion and erosion.
Regular overhauls are planned to inspect the integrity of the pipe work. However, headers and critical bends are difficult to assess. Time-consuming and expensive scaffolding is required to perform the required inspections.
The KEMA system for on-stream wall thickness measurement (KEMWAT) may be the right solution. KEMWAT accurately monitors the wall thickness at temperatures up to 500ºC. KEMWAT can be applied on all kinds of piping with no limitation with respect to operating pressure and temperature. Also, all kinds of wall materials can be monitored regardless the wall thickness.
