Asset Valuation

Fair and efficient (re)valuation of fixed assets of electrical infrastructures is of vital importance in different fields:

• acquisitions, mergers and takeovers
• determination of insurance premiums
• preparing fiscal and opening balance sheets.

Standard framework
KEMA offers a unique combination of expert knowledge of electrical infrastructures, expertise in cost estimates and efficient valuation techniques. We developed a method with a standard framework to determine the value of fixed assets of electrical infrastructures in a highly efficient way, using:

• standardized stocktaking questionnaires
• desktop verifications of information provided
• site visits to verify provided data (optional)
• a statistical model to determine the remaining lifetime of components
• an extensive cost database.

Our recent projects include:

• assessing the value of fixed assets of almost all Dutch utilities. The results of these assignments were used as major inputs to new-to-make fiscal balance sheets
• appraisal studies for the Islands of Barbados, St Lucia and St. Vincent. All studies included: generation, distribution and transmission
• valuation of the fixed assets of the electrical infrastructures and generation facilities as part of due diligence assignments.
