Commercial & Industrial Programs

KEMA has first-hand experience designing and implementing commercial and industrial programs targeting large energy users

energy efficiency commercial industrial programs

A successful C&I program requires an experienced program implementer.

Designing incentive programs, establishing technical specifications, and tracking program results requires experience—experience gained from implementing programs across a range of program types, climate zones, and incentive structures.

KEMA currently manages multiple large-scale incentive programs serving the non-residential market within the US.  The programs have a combined annual budget of nearly $50 million annually and are forecasted to grow sufficiently over the next few years.

We currently conduct programs in Arizona, California, Illinois, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Ohio, among other states.

Responsibility across program elements brings value and best practices
KEMA has first-hand experience designing and implementing each program element across a comprehensive program. Our experience means that each utility receives the benefits associated with implementing different program types whether they need full implementation services or only select assistance.

We understand the value of energy efficiency measures from the customer, utility and total resource perspectives. While we advise our clients on setting incentives levels based on a combination of the avoided cost value and the incremental measure cost, we also recommended annual energy savings coupled with the expected life of the measure to minimize complexity for the customer.

Effective program management focuses on project details
For our utility clients, we frequently process all incentive applications—including working with the applicant to ensure that the application is complete and adheres to program requirements. We conduct site inspections to verify measure installation, process the customer’s incentives, and track and report on program results.
