Basic Safety Test Will your product be allowed on the European market?
You’re engaged in selling or exporting household appliances, lighting, tools, audio-visual equipment, domestic components and/or multimedia appliances. The safety and quality of these products is not always clear when they originate from outside the European Union. Often the products are not equipped with an accepted safety certification mark or accompanied by an internationally recognized safety report or certificate. Moreover, the products may well have been tested but not according to the directives for the European market. And does the product correspond to the test report that was delivered with it? You want to know fairly quickly whether your product will be allowed on the European market.
KEMA can put these products to the Basic Safety Test. During this BST KEMA verifies the CENELEC recognized test report, that is delivered with the product. In addition, a testing program will be set up that consists of a basic program and a supplementary subtest. However, a BST is not a complete safety test and does not pass judgement about a complete batch or production.
