Type testing electrical energy meters

In general, when power companies purchase energy meters the quantities are huge. So any company that has the opportunity to deliver to a national or regional power company is assured of the sale of thousands – if not tens of thousands – of meters. How can you maximize your chances of getting such an order?
You can have both your mechanical and electronic energy meters tested in the KEMA Calibration Laboratory. We test to the latest IEC 62052-11 standard in combination with IEC 62053-11, 62053-21, 62053-22 and 62053-23. These tests are carried out under accreditation in accordance with ISO 17025. We can also test to another relevant standard if desired. We report our findings to you in a Type Testing Report.
The KEMA laboratories in the Netherlands are very well equipped. The relevant tests pertain to:
- mechanical requirements;
- insulation properties;
- accuracy requirements;
- electrical requirements;
- electromagnetic compatibility; and
- the effect of climatic environments.
Besides IEC 62052-11, in combination with the IEC 62053 series, KEMA also regularly conducts additional tests on energy meters such as salt spray tests, "weatherometer" tests, and rain tests. KEMA can also provide EMC certificates (as required for CE) for the meters where this is relevant.
