Only at the end of 2005 has the ATEX Standing Committee clarified how manufacturers and Notified Bodies must deal with the changing standards under the ATEX directive. In many cases there will be too little time available (for both the manufacturers and the Notified Bodies) to bring the technical construction file and, where applicable, the EC-type examinition certificate into compliance with the new standards (for EN 50021:1999 --> EN 60079-15 (2003) and EN 50019:2000 --> EN 60079-7 (2003)) before 1 July 2006.
