The ATEX 95 directive requires a manufacturer of products for use in potentially explosive atmospheres to comply with all the requirements of the directive at the moment that the products are brought onto the market. Every product must therefore be accompanied by a EC declaration of conformity drafted by you as the manufacturer. This is specified in Annex X, clause B of the ATEX directive (see article 5, clause 1 of the ATEX directive). With this, the manufacturer declares which requirements the product complies with, in many cases by referring to one or more of the harmonized standards under the ATEX 95. These standards are detailed in the overview list in the EU Official Journal. The standards that apply now as normalized standards will change soon (2006) and in the medium term (2007-2010). The EN 500-XX series will be replaced by the EN 60079-XX series. Back
