To determine compliance with the ATEX 95 directive, in practice, a combination of a EC-type examinition certificate for the product and an approval of the production facility are often used. Harmonized standards under the ATEX 95 directive are often used for the EC-type examinition certificate of the product. When a product is developed, assessed, tested and possibly certified by a Notified Body according to these standards, the manufacturer obtains the “Presumption of Conformity” with the ATEX 95 directive.
