This means that from the date published in the EU Official Journal the old standard expires and the new standard applies. From this date, the EC declaration of conformity that you must draft as the manufacturer must either be (directly) based on the Essential Health and Safety requirements, or will have to refer to the new standard. After the abovementioned date, if one of the ATEX stakeholders (a member state, manufacturer, distributor, purchaser, installation owner or Notified Body) has any doubts as to the required safety level of your product because the declaration still refers to the old standard, you must show that your product does in fact meet the required safety level. You cannot refer to the old (partly replaced) standard for this purpose. Back
