Japanese manufacturers of electrical products and measuring instruments are eager to gain access to the European market. A successful KEMA seminar was held in Tokyo on April 21st to explain the intermediate role KEMA plays worldwide. In September 2006, project managers of KEMA will visit Japan again in order to give companies the opportunity to discuss individual ATEX and IECEx certification issues. Central topics of the KEMA seminar in April were the ATEX regulation and the IECEx scheme. Japanese manufacturers of electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres will not be able to get around the ATEX scheme for Europe when they want to introduce their products in European markets. The IECEx certification is helpful in gaining access to other markets around the world. Experts of KEMA, familiar with these schemes, explained the importance of and differences between ATEX and IECEx. As an experienced notified body for the ATEX Directive, KEMA can be helpful in gaining rapid access to the European market. The seminar was also meant to emphasize the commitment of KEMA, as an IECEx certification body, to being an active player worldwide. Our Japanese partner EMCS was introduced during the seminar. The seminar was attended by a total of 65 representatives of manufacturers and members of the Japanese trade associations JEMIMA (electrical measuring instruments) and JEMA (electrical manufacturers). Based on the positive reactions, the seminar was a great success. For more information, please contact us.
