Duke Energy chief technology officer a featured speaker at KEMA Utility of the Future executive conference
David Mohler to discuss smart technologies enabling customer energy use decisions
BURLINGTON, Mass. (April 16, 2009) – The vice president and chief technology officer of Duke Energy will be a featured speaker at the KEMA second annual Utility of the Future executive conference June 17-19 in Washington DC.
Duke Energy has been at the forefront of implementing advanced two-way digital communications, renewable and energy efficiency technologies through its industry-leading smart grid program. Duke Energy vice president and chief technology officer David Mohler will discuss how the emerging smart grid, advanced metering infrastructure and Home Area Networking (HAN) are enabling consumers to make more informed energy use choices.
“The Utility of the Future will change the relationship most utilities have with their customers as utilities adopt technologies customers have come to expect in every other aspect of their lives,” says Mohler. “The utility-customer relationship is shifting—the customer is becoming the ultimate regulator.”
The KEMA Utility of the Future executive conference, "Navigating sustainability," is gathering senior executives from across the energy and utility industry to discuss the changing rules and relationships underlying the transformation of the energy future. Discussions will cover regulatory and policy directions and impacts, operating a smart grid infrastructure, developments in generation, energy storage and plug-in electric vehicles, and implications for utility products and customers.
