HRH Prince of Orange pays working visit to KEMA

Discussing the future energy system

Arnhem, April 20 – His Royal Highness The Prince of Orange paid a working visit to KEMA this afternoon, Tuesday April 20. During the visit, the Prince was informed about efficient and distributed power generation, in which smart grids play a prominent role.Prins van Oranje in Kortsluitlab KEMA

The Prince was welcomed by Ferdy Dautzenberg, Chief Financial Officer, and Peter Bus, Managing Director of the testing and certification activities. They stood in for Pier Nabuurs, Chief Executive Officer, and Thijs Aarten, member of the Executive Board, who are both stuck on foreign airports due to limited air transportation as a result of the volcanic activity in Iceland. 

The visit was divided into five stages. After a welcome in the lounge of the High Voltage Laboratorium, Ferdy Dautzenberg and Peter Bus accompanied the Prince to various temporary test facilities and booths at the KEMA premises. Each of these test facilties and booths have been designed each with a different theme:

1. New Consumer
2. Distribution
3. Transmission Systems & Operations
4. Generation & Environment
5. Policy & Strategy

Basic theme of the working visit was the energy value chain, as well as the predicted energy situation in the year 2027, the year that KEMA will celebrating its 100th anniversary.
