Expansion of energy management and energy policy activities in the US.

KEMA strengthens American position by acquisition of RLW Analytics.

December 10 – With effect from January 1, 2009, KEMA is taking over the US energy consulting firm RLW Analytics (RLW,www.rlw.com). RLW specializes in the provision of advice on energy management and energy policy. The firm has a strong reputation for statistical, technical and market research, and for power grid load studies. From its five offices, RLW’s fifty-strong workforce supports more than fifty US energy companies and government organizations.

RLW’s activities will be integrated with the Sustainable Market Strategies consulting operation of KEMA, Inc., which advises on new approaches to the use of electrical energy, based on energy efficiency and the harnessing of renewable sources, amongst others. The US market for energy management and energy efficiency is developing strongly at present.

US activities
KEMA employs a total of about 475 people in the United States. In addition to its energy consulting work, KEMA is active in the US in the provision of inspection services and in the testing and certification of low, medium and high-voltage products and medical equipment. Current activities include advising the US Ministry of Energy on smart grids. In June 2008, the head of KEMA’s American consultancy operation was named one of the twenty-five most influential consultants in the USA by the authoritative Consulting Magazine.
