KEMA opens first independent CB test lab in China.

Speed up access to the global market.

In June 2007, KEMA’s CB Testing Laboratory in Wenzhou, China will become accredited by the IECEE to perform testing for the CB Scheme as an official CB-Test Laboratory (CBTL). This makes KEMA the first foreign enterprise with an independent test lab for industrial electric components in China.
By providing local test facilities for obtaining CB certification, this local lab will speed up access to the global market for both Chinese and foreign companies with a manufacturing plant in China. The Wenzhou lab is a modern facility that specializes in testing industrial components, such as circuit breakers and switchgear panel components for distribution and control panels, etc. Besides testing for electrical safety, it is also possible to test for electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and the presence of banned raw materials, including bromine and cadmium (according to the RoHS directive). The lab has low-voltage testing capabilities which will further extend its services. Over the next year it will be possible to conduct short-circuit tests up to a level of 150 kA.

Mutual recognition
A manufacturer can use the CB Test Certificate to obtain approval marks from other Certification Bodies in the IECEE scheme. In this IECEE scheme, the certification bodies have agreed to recognize one another’s test results, so that the manufacturers do not need to go through the entire test cycle again. This saves you time and costs.

Key to the global market
The popularity of the CB certification is growing even more now that the North American markets are also more in step with the IEC Standard. It is a direct result of the globalization of trade. A CB certification gives you faster and easier access to numerous regional markets.
