NMi has taken over the certification of gaming instruments from KEMA. For KEMA this is not core business, while in the gaming industry the call for a single strong European player is becoming louder all the time. Together the gaming activities of NMi and KEMA offer the right scale and possibilities to grow to a position in the top 3
of the world. Netherlands Measurement (NMi) and KEMA both have been active on the gaming market since many years. This market internationalises in a high pace because more and more countries open-up their borders for private test institutes. To keep playing a role of importance and, a large contribution is necessary. Number one-position The gaming market is characterized by high dynamics with an increasing number of countries that open-up for commercial certification institutes. This development will continue the years to come, where counties outside of Europe are considered to be market as well. Both NMi and KEMA kept investing in gaining acceptance in new gaming countries over and over again. The two strongest players in the market are non-European. That is the exact reason why the European gaming industry likes to see at least one strong international player of European origin.
With the take-over the number one-position in Europe is a fact. The transition solely concerns the certification of the gaming instruments. A second laboratory will be continued in Arnhem. All employees involved (7) cross over to NMi. In the new situation there is a significant scale of approximately 15 employees with a total turnover of almost 2 Million euros.
