Electricity power producers store increasingly more data in databases. The use of this data for improvement of availability, processing and maintaining power plants is extremely time consuming. With MagicCorr from KEMA, the correlations between process parameters become fast, efficient and even a pleasant task.
With the arrival of increasingly more powerful and fast computers, it is possible to continuously store countless parameters about the production process in databases. More electricity producers are therefore implementing new systems that can store hundreds of parameters within seconds. Numerous processes are necessary to access and to combine this data such that it results in useful information for management. Importing, filtering, processing and analyzing data is not only time consuming, but loses much valuable information too.
Quick and Easy
MagicCorr changes that. This analysis method makes the stored data available extremely fast, enabling intuitive data analysis. This allows, for instance, a process engineer to determine quickly and easily if there is a suspected correlation between certain process parameters. An example would be the result of the correlation between outside air temperature and time capacity that appears as a colored dotted cloud on his screen. With this, at a glance he sees the actual effect of a performance improvement under specific conditions. In this manner, the whole process can be efficiently examined on the basis of facts, and the effect of the measures taken can be evaluated. Moreover, the procedures regarding MagicCorr stimulate cooperation and communication among experts.
The Belgian electricity provider SPE has much experience with MagicCorr. The analysis instrument that SPE developed in-house always saves considerably on the process costs and increases the availability. KEMA is working together with SPE to further develop MagicCorr and installs the toolkit for its clients for the analysis and improvement of the availability, management, and optimization of production processes.
