High and Medium Voltage

Line Traps & Reactors

In some countries signals such as telephone, fax and data need to be transmitted along the power transmission network. To make sure that these signals will be confined to particular sections of power lines, a Line Trap is being used. This to prevent streaming into unwanted directions.

By connecting a tuning device in parallel with the main coil, the attenuation and high frequency impedance characteristics of the power line can be made.

The IEC 60353 is often a required standard for performing a type test on Line Traps. For reactors the IEC 60289 is most applicable.
