Fuses are cost effective safety devices that are mainly applied in MV and LV networks. Often combined with a switch in series or combined in the so-called switch-fuse combination. Task of a fuse is to clear over currents up to the short-circuit level of the system.
An often applicable standard for testing MV fuses is the IEC 60282 (part 1 and 2) or ANSI C37-41 and C37-42.
