The small electrical components seminar 2006 held in Shenzhen, China was successful. Almost 50 participants from 20 companies attended the KEMA technical seminar with great interest. In the end, this will lead to quality improvement of electrical components. The object of the seminar was to keep the Chinese manufacturers up to date on the latest requirements in Europe, share information and experience to meet the directives and provide them with an effective certification solution. Great dilemma Recently, the Chinese component manufacturers have been facing a great dilemma of the sharply rising copper price, a raw material for small components. Besides, the aperiodic modification of directives and requirements puts them under pressure. An appropriate certification solution will help the manufacturers to control cost and reduce the recall risk. Furthermore, it will help them escape reputation damage and shorten time to European markets. Update on requirements To meet this need, KEMA organized an interactive seminar on testing and certification of small components in Shenzhen on August 21. We welcomed almost 50 participants from 20 companies in the Guangdongprovince. During the seminar KEMA experts provided clients insight into IEC 60884-1 (plugs & socket-outlets, domestic purposes) and IEC/EN 61058-1 (appliance switches) and gave them an update on the requirements of the directives as well as the associated tests.
Furthermore, we explained and helped the participants in clarifying their queries on the directives as well as the problem they experienced with product design and testing. The seminar earned appreciation from clients.
