According to the incomplete statistics, the number of participants soared up to 70 that exceeded the planed 30. They were officers from the local government, media, and delegates from 38 firms, which are the biggest manufacturers of power tools in Yongkang area. The media include the Yongkang TV Station, Yongkang Broadcasting Station, and Yongkang Daily which are the most influential in Yongkang. What’s more, the Chinese leading B2B website ChinaPowerTools.Com reported this event as well. The above facts not only are the evidences of the KEMA’s authorization in quality certification and the understanding and acknowledge of Chinese enterprises to KEMA, but also authentically reflect the truth that Chinese manufacturers are, facing the changes of game rules and trading environment in the international market, eager to grasp the international forefront technologies and information so as to be more competitive and increase the export by renovating the products, improving the quality, and upgrading the brands.

Needs of manufacturers
As an international authentic organization, KEMA creates a service model in association with the current needs of Chinese manufacturers, combining the international standards and localization. In the sector of power tools, manufacturing enterprises in Yongkang area are the closest to KEMA. Being the manufacturing base of power tools in China, Yongkang possesses a proportion of 80%in the China’s export of power tools, most of which are exported to Europe, America, and Southeast of Asia. According to the statistics, there are more than 500 firms in Yongkang producing power tools, export oriented 50%.
For the latest 20 years, Yongkang has developed as China’s communication center for hardware industries. Relevant co-services are also developed that attracts many foreign customers go for on-site investigation and sourcing. They communicate with local entrepreneurs and engineers face to face. Thus, an international channel without obstacle is built. As this non-obstacle channel is broadened, the buyers ask for higher quality. In this case, certification becomes a pivotal factor in the international trade. KEMA is the very cooperator that China’s firms are looking for.

Since its establishment in 1927 by IEC, KEMA has become an authority in the sector of certification, especially appointed as the only one certificating organization sponsoring EU-China Business Summit, which will be held on 5th September, 2005 at China’s Great Hall of the people.
