BURLINGTON, MASS. (January 24, 2008) – KEMA has acquired the business of Northeast
Inspection Services (NISI), a leading provider of specialized non destructive testing (NDT)
services for the power generation industry. The acquisition of the Schenectady, New Yorkbased
firm’s assets is part of KEMA’s global growth strategy for its technical and operational
services and further strengthens its position as a leading expert in NDT services. With this
acquisition KEMA roughly doubles its NDT service capacity, key to meeting growing demand.
“We are very excited to be combining over 40 years of KEMA and NISI expertise in non
destructive testing,” said Pier Nabuurs, CEO of KEMA. “KEMA can now be even more
effective in delivering independent, top-of-class turbine related testing and inspections
solutions to optimize power plant operations, reliability and maintenance, and to realize
greatest possible returns from asset investments.”
For over 20 years, NISI has been providing specialized NDT services for turbine
manufacturers, commercial utilities and individual plant sites, steam path engineering
consultants and specialized turbine service shops. NISI supports critical schedules during
seasonally planned outages and has been the turbine NDT contractor of choice for many
owners or operations throughout the United States.
