In the presence of approximately 200 guests, KEMA officially opened its new offices and laboratory facilities in Guangzhou on Friday, January 11. The new facilities, which are almost twice the size of the former facilities, are located in Wushan Technology Plaza, directly adjacent to the South China University of Technology, Guangzhou campus. The ceremony also marked KEMA's 80th Anniversary.

The relocation is another important step in the continuing development of KEMA’s activities in China. The new premises will help to accommodate accelerated growth in 2008 and beyond. Rapid growth of KEMA’s household appliance and lighting business in Guangzhou and recent scope expansion into the areas of information technology and audio video equipment necessitate larger and better-equipped laboratory and office premises. In addition to providing ample space for growth, the relocation will enable the KEMA Guangzhou laboratory to become an independent Certified Body Testing Laboratory under the IECEE CB Scheme.
