KEMA just missed out on winning the King Willem I Award

KEMA just missed out on winning the King Willem I Award, the Dutch national award for entrepreneurship. In spite of good scores on the core values daring, decisiveness, perseverance and innovation KEMA had to allow Fugro to take the win.

The King Willem I award is granted every two years to companies who distinguish themselves in perseverance and innovation and in this way play an important role in the Dutch Economy. The jury had to make a choice from a broad range of companies. Eventually, there were left over only six: besides KEMA there was Fugro and VanDerLande Industries in the category of companies with more than 250 employees. In the category of companies with less than 250 employees, Xsens Technologies, Solland Solar Cells and Software Improvement Group competed. Solland Solar Cells won the 2008 Award.

Both the foundation and the award were established in 1958 by a number of organizations related to trade and industry. The award was presented by the honorary president of this foundation: His Royal Highness The Prince of Orange.
