Global Contact is KEMA’s worldwide quarterly magazine that is distributed among 15.000 of KEMA’s clients and relations. Global Contact is a broad platform. It includes news from around KEMA as well as articles providing insight into today’s critical energy and utility trends and topics, and the divers projects KEMA and her clients are working on.

‘IBERIAN ENERGY COMPANIES INNOVATIVE AND KEEN TO LEARN’ - In September,KEMA opened an office in Madrid,and there are plans foranotherin Lisbon. Jorge Ferreira Duarte heads up the new office.Half Portuguese and half Dutch, he is ideally placed to work at this cultural interface.  
THE ENVIRONMENTAL BREAKTHROUGH IN SHIPDISMANTLING THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR -Two Dutch entrepreneurs have devised a concept that enables ships to be dismantled in away that is environmentally friendly, safe and profitable.KEMA will be providing a management system for the analysis of risks and a sophisticated certification scheme.    
CUSTOMIZED FIRE-FIGHTING - The early detection of component degradation in industrial installations, preferably without the need to shut down or dismantle the equipment, is extremely desirable. KEMA has a team of consultants standing by round the clock, ready to undertake complex inspections.  
INTEROPERABILITY BASIS OF FUTURE UTILITY - At the request of Duke Energy, KEMA hosted a roundtable meeting of a number of US utilities in various stages of AMI/Smart Grid deployment.    RELIABLE EMERGENCY POWER SUPPLY In late 2007, an Apache helicopter severed thehigh-voltage cables over the River Waal in the Netherlands.Outage of the150-k link left fifty thousand homes without electricity for forty-eighthours.    
GREENHOUSE HORTICULTURE SECTOR LEADS THE WAY - Once an energy guzzler, the greenhouse horticulture sector is increasingly becoming an innovative energy producer. However, the transmission of so much electricity from dispersed production sources is a major challenge.  
MODERNIZING ENERGY SUPPLY IN BULGARIA - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has opened a credit line to finance energy efficiency and renewable energy projects,starting inBulgaria.KEMA is involved as a an independent energy expert, visiting plant sites to check.
