Global Contact is KEMA’s worldwide quarterly magazine that is distributed among 15,000 of KEMA’s clients and relations. Global Contact is a broad platform. • ‘WE WANT TO BE WHERE OUR CLIENTS ARE’. - ‘We can offer our clients a lot more than certification and safety compliance,’ KEMA Quality’s new managing director, Bert Zoetbrood, asserts.
• HUGE CABLE INSPECTION. - How can you be sure a 400 kV cable of 1.5 km in length and 15 cm in diameter rolled up on a single drum meets all requirements?
• TAKING ASSET MANAGEMENT TO THE NEXTLEVEL. - Network operators have to manage their assets efficiently. KEMA assists grid operators in implementing and testing structured asset management systems.
• COAL BLENDING IN CHINA. - In China, a copy of the port of Rotterdam’s coal blending facility is taking shape. KEMA is one of the parties involved.
• SAFE LOCOMOTIVES.  The locomotives that will be moving goods wagons on the Dutch Betuwe line from spring 2007 will be equipped with the new European ETCS safety system.  The two locomotives have passed the demanding tests with flying colors. 
• TAKING A FRESH LOOKAT RAILROAD POWER SUPPLIES. - On a rail network, a reliable supply of electrical power is essential for both traction and safety. KEMA advises rail network operators on the complex power supply issues they have to contend with.
• RELIABILITY GUARANTEED. - Saudi Cable Company recently had a 220-kV cable tested at KEMA’s High-Voltage Laboratory in Arnhem.
• EFFICIENT ASSET MANAGEMENT. - The British regulator Ofgem sought technical and economic assistance from KEMA to determine appropriate allowances as part of price control.
• SAFETY AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT. - Dutch company Lightspeed has developed an optical sensor that responds quickly and effectively to variations in the pressure on a synthetic fiber. It followed an intensive test program at KEMA’s labs.
