Overhead lines are built in accordance with certain design values. Structures can fail if the actual wind or ice loads are higher than their design values.
In such situations the connection should be restored as quickly as possible. The owner of the transmission network can be exposed to claims for compensation if no adequate precautions are taken to prevent or limit a disruption to the network. This becomes increasingly relevant in markets with Third Party Access rules.
Energy Restoration System
Today an effective energy restoration system no longer needs to be regarded as a luxury but rather as an essential investment to ensure a reliable power supply.
KEMA has developed a sophisticated, practical and economically viable solution to restore a lost power connection for voltages up to 765 kV. The KEMA-ASH ERS is a mobile and fully prefabricated system and meets system requirements. It can be quickly erected and energised after a line failure. The KEMA-ASH ERS can also be used as a temporary by-pass of existing connections. Most ERS systems delivered worldwide in the past years are mainly applied for temporary by-passes.
The main features of the KEMA-ASH Energy Restoration System:- quickly erected energy line: a forty-five-meter tower can normally be erected within four hours
- ideal system for difficult terrain and very small building sites: the towers are erected vertically and cranes or helicopters are not necessary
- easy storage and handling of the equipment: no single part weighs more than 135 kg and the columns have no protruding parts
- logistic simplicity: two complete towers including all accessories and necessary tools are stored in one 20ft container
- rapid restoration
