The Bio-energy scan is a powerful means to effectively determine the potential of Biomass-to-Energy projects in a certain region and to support local authorities and businesses in their efforts to increase the amount of bio-energy in their region.
The Bio-Energy scan consists of five main sections:- inventory of the availability of biomass (quality and quantity)
- inventory of the demand for electricity and heat
- identification of potential investors
- scanning for the challenges and barriers in the licensing process
- scanning the economic feasibility based on indicative figures.
The bio-energy scan will be carried out in close co-operation with the authorities and investors and will typically take two or three weeks. It will prevent you performing ineffective research on unfeasible biomass projects. Investors will be directed to potential projects that are economically promising and environmentally beneficial.
Authorities will be brought into contact with investors with a positive attitude towards bio-energy. They will be able to take a major step forward to implementing real projects in the region where they are responsible for achieving the targets for sustainable energy.
