From sample to preparation
After receiving a sample, we discuss with you the best way to achieve your stated goal. Samples can vary from a powder sample to a high tension pylon profile. Each of them has to be segmented and prepared in its own way, with no information loss. This can be done for example by:- warm or cold embedding
- rubbing, polishing and etching
- vacuum evaporation.
KEMA applies metallography according to the latest standards, supplemented with its own in-house preparation techniques. A good example of this is our method of preparing cross-sections of turbine buckets in large pieces or sometimes in one piece. This makes the preparations ready to be analyzed by a light or electron microscope.
