Replicas: analysis of on-site samples
It is not always possible to take samples away for laboratory analysis, for instance, if they are an essential part of an installation. In these cases prints –replicas– are made, just below the surface. This technique belongs to the class of non-destructive analysis techniques. In addition to replica analysis for common materials at industrial plants or electricity power plants, KEMA also performs 3D replica analysis. In these cases, a print is made of surfaces that are not easily accessible, like cooling channels of gas turbine buckets. This technique can reveal lower lying tears.
