Construction project partner
Building, maintenance, the use of process residues in construction materials and the reuse of concrete – all are crucial issues in their own way. KEMA’s unique knowledge of concrete, aggregates and recycling has been built up working with power plants, transmission networks and substations. Complex, high-cost installations that are required to play their part in ensuring the uninterrupted supply of electricity, decade after decade.

Inspections
Concrete is used everywhere. Not only for industrial and utility buildings, but also for chimneys, for the footings of high-voltage pylons and for impervious structures in factories and filling stations. In addition to inspections, KEMA investigates damage and performs quality checks during the construction phase.
Research and development
New inspection techniques, innovative applications for familiar materials and residues, ingenious recycling techniques: KEMA originates concepts and refines them through extensive laboratory and field test programs. Much of our research is performed in close collaboration with the interested parties, including power station operators, waste incineration firms, cement and concrete manufacturers and building contractors.
Material and product certification
KEMA has its own ‘concrete laboratory’, accredited by the Accreditation Council, where fly ash and the like, plus slag from waste incinerators and similar sources, are certified for use in the construction of roads and utility buildings.
