Certification of bottom ashes

Certification of bottom ashes

Waste incineration gives rise to a number of residues, including:
  • bottom ashes
  • fly ash
  • coarse residues
  • flue gas cleaning residues.

After refinement and certification, bottom ashes can be sold as materials for civil engineering applications. KEMA provides certification services to nine of the eleven waste incineration plants in the Netherlands. Our certificates serve as evidence that the bottom ashes comply with the requirements of the Building Materials Decree. Both ferrous and non-ferrous coarse residues are completely reused.
Fly ash is partially reused. The remainder is landfilled or immobilized, while flue gas cleaning residues are landfilled.
Our extensive experience with the certification of incineration bottom ashes and the recycling of residues of all types, coupled with our expertise in environmental legislation, makes KEMA the obvious choice for support in fields such as:
  • maximizing the scope for the sale of your residues
  • enhancing the quality of your residues
  • refining and treating fly ash and flue gas cleanup residues.
