Co-firing of biomass
When storing large amounts of biomass, either from vegetable or animal origin, there is a serious threat of oxidative self-heating (spontaneous heating) of the material stored. Through desk studies, experimental work and real-life data collection, KEMA has gained substantial knowledge and experience regarding the process of self-heating, the influence of material properties and storage conditions as well as the possibilities to avoid or control this phenomenon. KEMA is very active and is expanding its activities regarding this topic through experiments in the spontaneous heating reactor. For more information please contact us.
