Realize Value from IED Data
Substation instrumentation and controls are critical to power system operations, reliability and operations efficiency. They provide for control and switching of equipment and system configuration, and are the source of data for real-time monitoring of system operation as well as equipment conditions, power quality and fault information.
Traditionally, substation data were acquired through RTUs and processed by SCADA applications in support of power system operations. The introduction of multi-function digital relays and other Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) at substations has made additional data available.
